New Delhi | February 22, 2026: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will host a National Roundtable Conference with State Election Commissioners (SECs) on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam.
This significant meeting is being organized after a gap of 27 years, with the previous roundtable having taken place in 1999.
High-Level Participation
The conference will be chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi will also attend.
State Election Commissioners from all 36 States and Union Territories, along with their legal and technical experts, will participate. Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) from across the country are also expected to join the discussions.
Strengthening Coordination in Election Management
The primary objective of the roundtable is to enhance coordination between the ECI and State Election Commissions within their respective legal frameworks.

Senior officials will present the recently launched ECINET digital platform, highlighting its transformative potential in streamlining electoral services.
Presentations will also focus on the robustness, transparency, and security measures associated with EVMs.
Constitutional Framework
State Election Commissions are constituted under state laws in accordance with the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments. Under Articles 243K and 243ZA of the Constitution, SECs are responsible for preparing electoral rolls and conducting elections for Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies.
The upcoming roundtable is expected to reinforce collaboration between constitutional bodies and further strengthen India’s democratic framework.
