Improved seed varieties will also be symbolically distributed to progressive farmers. An exhibition showcasing advanced pulse seeds, technologies, and value-added products will be organized for stakeholders.
Addressing the consultation, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will outline the government’s strategy for increasing pulse production, strengthening the seed system, ensuring MSP-based procurement, improving value chains, and enhancing farmers’ income. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will also address the gathering.
Senior scientists from ICAR and ICARDA, representatives from NAFED, NCCF, National Seeds Corporation, senior state officials, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), cooperatives, seed and processing industries, and plant-based food sector representatives will participate in detailed deliberations. Discussions will focus on new varieties, seed production, disease management, mechanization, value addition, storage, marketing, and time-bound MSP procurement.
According to Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the mission aims to make India fully self-reliant in pulses, reduce import dependency, ensure remunerative prices for farmers, and strengthen nutritional security. Special focus will be placed on major pulse crops such as Tur, Urad, and Masoor, strengthening the entire value chain from farm to plate.
The national consultation is expected to strengthen cooperative federalism between the Centre and States and help formulate a clear, actionable roadmap for the future. The initiative is envisioned as a historic step toward enhancing farmer incomes, ensuring nutrition security, and realizing the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat in pulses.
